Budget and Finance Committee
The Finance Committee's primary responsibilities are preparation of the annual budget and approval of payment by the Treasurer of all expenses. Members of the committee prepare financial statements to the Board of Trustees, review the dues structure to assure that the Congregation derives adequate income, and make recommendations to the Board of Trustees to develop new sources of income. In this regard, they work closely with the Fundraising Committee. Successful fundraisers which demonstrate the coordination of these two committees include a cash raffle and a dues recognition program, through which congregants voluntarily increase their dues beyond the percentage that was asked of all congregants, and a Cash Raffle. It is the goal of both the Finance and the Fundraising Committees to increase endowment income to reduce dependence on dues and to enable us to increase programming to support our growing and increasingly diverse congregation. To this end, 10% of each year's operating budget is set aside to pay for building maintenance and repairs, and any budget surplus is placed in an interest-bearing reserve fund. We appreciate the support and input of any temple member with interest in fundraising and budget management. |
