GRTY NEWS

Our first news to announce is that our very own Julian Baker won the regional election and will serve as Religious and Cultural Vice President on the NFTY'MI regional board next year!! We are very proud of him and excited to have Grand Rapids represented on a regional level. Some of you may remember Whitney Harris-Linton, daughter of Pat Harris, a former Temple member. She too, has been elected to regional board. Hats off to our young leaders!

GRTY will be holding our own elections in the next few weeks. All GRTY members are encouraged to run or just come to vote. Speeches will be made and ballots cast at a picnic in Anabawen Park on May 5, 1:00 pm.

GRTY will also be walking in the Hunger Walk this year, Saturday, May 4 at 8:30 am. We will meet at Anabawen Park. If you would like to pledge to GRTY, you may send a check to the Religious School office attn: Camille or send it to Dan and Camille @ 1644 Wealthy ST SE 49506. GRTY will be making a donation as well.

We have just completed the first of what we hope will be many Mitzvah projects with In the Image. Over spring break, GRTY members went downtown to sort and hang clothes at the free store in the Heartside District. We had great time and hope to go again soon. If anyone is interested in volunteering at or donating to In the Image, call Sheila at the Religious School office or Camille at 454-3391.

GRTY has had a small turn out on the regional level for the past two Kallot (Boards and Social Action) but we expect a large Western Michigan representation for Spring, the final Kallah of the year May 10-12. If you need more information or have not received your application, call Camille and Dan or go to the website: NFTYMI.org.

Thanks to everyone for your incredible generosity during our bake sale Sunday, April 14. Our next fundraiser will be on the last day of Sunday School, May 18. Drive through all those spring mud puddles because GRTY is going to wash your car!!

Again and as always, if you have any questions about who we are and what we do, would like to run for board or don't know how to get to the button at Anabawen Park, want to be involved but don't know where to begin, call Camille and/or Dan or email us at Camilleshotwell@msn.com.
